Citizenship Begins with Us
Our journey toward becoming a School of Citizenship starts with us, the educators.
RHHS educators came together for an engaging session that gave us the opportunity to reflect on what citizenship really means and, more importantly, how we can bring it to life through our daily practices at school.
Through interactive activities, open discussions, and the sharing of different perspectives, we explored what it means to be a responsible citizen, the importance of active participation, and the role each of us plays in shaping our school community.
What made the session special was the energy in the room, the fresh ideas, the different opinions, and the genuine passion of our educators. It was inspiring to see how much we can learn from one another and how much we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose.
We left the session with a stronger belief that our classrooms are much more than spaces for gaining knowledge and building understanding. They are spaces where students learn to think critically and ethically, express their opinions respectfully, engage in meaningful dialogue, listen to different perspectives, make responsible decisions, and take ownership of their choices and actions. When we create these opportunities for our students, we are doing more than teaching them about citizenship. We are giving them the chance to experience and practice active citizenship every day.
This is the kind of learning environment we aspire to build across our school, where citizenship is not limited to lessons or activities, but becomes part of the way we teach, learn, interact, and grow together.
This is only the beginning of a journey we are building together, one classroom, one experience, and one meaningful action at a time.
